What I find interesting about the outsourcing of the WP Centers at Merrill Lynch and Proskauer to Pitney Bowes is that BOTH Merrill and Proskauer are maintaining alternate word processing centers (alternatives to Pitney Bowes).
At Merrill Lynch, Merrill outsourced the "Word Processing Centers" (which were staffed mostly by Blacks and Hispanics) but kept what Merrill called a "Graphics Centers". Merrill's "Graphics Center" was just a Word Processing Center without minorities in it.
Last I heard, Proskauer was also planning to continue to manage a "Graphics Center", i.e., an alternative word processing center to the one Pitney will manage.
Clearly, both Merrill and Proskauer are at least keeping their option to boot Pitney and have their own inhouse Word Processing Centers. As I have said, Word Processing MAKES money for law firms, Word Processing is a PROFIT center. There is no economic reason to outsource WP to save money, because WP Centers MAKE money.
